In this video, Angelica will show you how you can create dynamic slicers using field parameters in the Power BI Desktop. The field parameters feature was released a few months ago, but until now it did not support slicers to control fields used in other slicers.

Power BI - Field Parameters

In Power BI Desktop, field parameters are a way to define a specific set of values for a field within a data model, which can be used to limit the available values for that field when creating visuals or working with the data in other ways.

When you create a field parameter, you specify a name, a data type, and a list of allowed values. Once you've created a field parameter, you can then use it to filter data in your data model, or to limit the values that are available for a field in a visual.

For example, you might create a field parameter called "Region" and specify the allowed values as "East", "West", "North", and "South", and then use that field parameter to limit the data that is displayed in a visual to a specific region.

Additionally, field parameters can also be used to set a dynamic value or expressions which can be used as filter or parameter for visuals or query's, this allows for even more granular data analysis and reporting.

Field parameters can be created by clicking on Modeling > New Parameter, then following the prompts to specify the parameter's name, data type, and allowed values.
