In this video Mitchell teaches how to make your Power BI Development smoother, easier and faster by demonstrating how to use the multi-select capability

In the video, Mitchell provides a tutorial on how to speed up Power BI Development using the multi-selection feature often overlooked in Power BI. This feature allows you to select and modify several items simultaneously, thus increasing efficiency in the development process. To utilize it, you can:

In Power BI, the Multi-Select feature allows you to select and modify multiple items at the same time, making your development process more efficient. Here's how to use it:

  1. Using the Control (Ctrl) Key: You can select multiple visuals or objects in your Power BI report by holding down the Ctrl key and then clicking each visual that you want to select. This method allows you to select multiple visuals that are not adjacent to each other.

  2. Using the Shift Key: If you need to select a series of adjacent visuals or objects, you can click the first visual, hold down the Shift key, and then click the last visual. Power BI will select all visuals in between.

  3. Using the Selection Pane: If you have a lot of overlapping visuals or if you need to select specific visuals, you can use the Selection Pane. You can find this pane by going to the View tab and then selecting Selection Pane. Once the pane is open, you can select multiple visuals by holding down the Ctrl or Shift key and then clicking each visual in the pane. You can also use the Select All option to select all visuals in the pane.

  4. Changing Properties: After you have selected multiple visuals, you can change their properties at the same time. This feature is very useful when you want to change the same property (like the font size or color) for multiple visuals.

  5. Copying and Pasting: You can also copy and paste multiple selected visuals at the same time. After you have selected the visuals, you can use the Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) commands to duplicate them.

  6. Aligning and Distributing: When you have multiple visuals selected, you can use the Format tab to align and distribute them evenly. This feature helps to maintain a clean and organized report layout.

Remember, multi-select is a versatile tool, and it's not just for visuals. You can use multi-select with slicers, filters, and other report objects as well. Leveraging multi-select can significantly speed up your Power BI report development process.
