Microsoft is rolling out a character count feature to its built-in Notepad app on Windows 11. This is the latest in a series of improvements to the app, which has also received an autosave option, tabs, dark mode, and a virtual fidget spinner.
Alongside the Notepad changes, Microsoft is also making it possible to hide the news and articles feed from the widgets section of Windows 11. This is a welcome change for many users who find the feed to be full of low-quality content.
These features are currently being tested in the Canary channel of the Windows Insider program, but they are expected to be released to all Windows 11 users in early 2024.
