Microsoft Entra: Native Backup Arrives

• Native backup: Microsoft Entra now includes built-in backups and point-in-time recovery for Entra ID tenants. The feature runs automatically and appears in the Entra admin center for snapshot browsing and restores.
  
• 5-day rolling window: Backups are retained for up to five days, giving you daily restore points within that window. Backups stay in the tenant’s geo-location and are not user-modifiable.
  
• Supported objects: The service captures key identity items such as users, groups, applications and service principals, plus Conditional Access policies, named locations, authentication method policies, and related policy objects.
  
• Granular recovery: You can restore everything, specific object types, or individual object IDs. Generate a difference report before restoring and review recovery history for auditing.
  
• Tamper-proof: Backups are immutable and cannot be disabled or deleted by administrators, improving resilience against insider mistakes or malicious changes and reducing the need for complex scripts or external tools.
  
• Limits & recommended checks: The feature is in public preview and does not yet cover every attribute or object. Test restores, verify coverage per tenant, and keep complementary protections (Recycle Bin, Protected Actions) until you confirm it meets your recovery needs.
