Microsoft has declared the general availability of several capabilities in Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP). DLP, a unified, cloud-native solution, helps prevent the loss of sensitive data across applications, services, and devices. This extensible offering allows organizations to manage their Data Loss Prevention policies from a single location without incurring excessive costs. Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention controls can be extended to non-Microsoft cloud apps such as Dropbox, Box, and Google Drive. It includes a user-friendly experience for both administrators and end users.
Microsoft Purview DLP is dedicated to providing a complete, integrated solution for data loss prevention. Its objective is to provide maximum data security across all Microsoft platforms and applications. One of the key features includes its superior depth of protection. This involves innovative tools like OCR in Exchange Online and Teams. Furthermore, its fingerprinting capabilities have been expanded to support additional workloads, ensuring the protection of sensitive data at all times. It represents a significant step forward in cloud-based security.
Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) is an integrated, cloud-native solution that helps organizations prevent the loss of sensitive data across applications, services, and devices without the need to deploy and maintain costly infrastructure or agents. This solution has protection built-in to Microsoft 365 cloud services, Office apps, Microsoft Edge (on Windows and Mac), and on endpoint devices. DLP can also be extended to Chrome and Firefox browsers through the Microsoft Purview extension and to various non-Microsoft cloud apps such as Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, and others through integration with Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps.
Today, Microsoft is excited to announce the general availability of several capabilities in Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention that help organizations increase their protection depth, extend their protection capabilities to additional planes and platforms, and empower administrators to be more efficient in their day-to-day tasks. These capabilities include Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for Exchange Online and Teams, which can extract text from images and quickly recognize if the image contains sensitive information. OCR for SharePoint and Endpoint is also available in public preview. Additionally, organizations can create fingerprint-sensitive information types and extend support for document fingerprinting to cover additional workloads such as SharePoint Online, One Drive, Teams, and Windows Endpoint.
