Want to monitor your SharePoint site and get advanced data, session recordings, and even heatmaps? Microsoft Clarity is for you.

Microsoft Clarity provides advanced monitoring for SharePoint sites, including detailed data, session recordings, and heatmaps. Once you've built and launched your SharePoint site, a common question is how to effectively monitor it. Though SharePoint offers a basic in-built feature to display site metrics, sometimes a more detailed view is desirable. This is where Microsoft Clarity comes in.

Clarity is not a new tool, and it extends out-of-the-box support for various popular platforms, including WordPress, Joomla, Wix, Shopify, and others. If your platform isn't covered, you can install a monitoring script manually. Notably, it's also GDPR and CCPA compliant for organizations requiring stringent privacy rules.

  • In order to utilize Clarity, a project must be first configured on it. You would need to navigate to Clarity, sign in, create a new project and provide a name and URL for the site you wish to monitor. The Project ID generated would be required in subsequent steps.
  • The next crucial step involves linking your SharePoint site with Clarity. This is done by first navigating to the SharePoint Store, searching for Clarity, and adding the Microsoft Clarity app. It's worth noting that by default, the app gets installed on all SharePoint sites. It's generally advantageous to control which site has monitoring enabled.
  • Adding the Clarity app to the site you wish to monitor follows next, after which you can register the app by running the given cmdlets.
  • To verify that Clarity has been properly configured for the specific site, you can use the provided cmdlet and expect to see a single entry for your site.
  •

Once configuration is done, you can navigate to the Clarity site and check your data. This can include count of users, clicks, referrers, and you can also view session recordings and click heatmaps. Configuring Clarity on SharePoint is usually a straightforward exercise. If any issues arise in using PowerShell, remember to check your configuration and make corrections where necessary.
