• It can restore files, sites, and mailbox items from a prior point in time

Microsoft 365 Backup can be accessed directly through the Microsoft 365 admin center, or through partner applications built on Microsoft's Backup APIs. Adopting these technologies through partners can provide unique experiences within a single pane for your Microsoft 365 and non-Microsoft 365 data sources.

Microsoft 365 Backup will be available in public preview in Q4 this year. Microsoft 365 Archive is another feature being developed to address the exponential content growth. This is largely driven by the increasing collaboration and the import of large transactional data to exploit Microsoft's advanced content AI services and integrated security.
