Copilot Makes Outlook an Executive Aid

Key insights

• Copilot
Built into Outlook, Copilot can summarize long threads, draft replies, generate project updates, and turn summaries into ready-to-send emails.
It also helps schedule meetings and create agendas so you spend less time writing and more time doing.
• Agentic assistant
Copilot now acts proactively: it can triage email, reschedule calendar conflicts, and perform inbox actions like pin, flag, archive, or mark read/unread for multiple messages.
This shifts Outlook from a passive inbox to an active workflow helper that reduces daily overhead.
• Scheduled prompts
Set Copilot to run briefings at fixed times and receive automatic summaries, action lists, and draft replies each morning or week.
These scheduled prompts help you start the day with a focused plan instead of digging through your inbox.
• Inbox triage
Use natural-language rules to prioritize messages as high, normal, or low and to auto-categorize emails from key contacts.
Automated triage speeds decision-making by surfacing what matters and reducing time spent sorting messages.
• Calendar automation
Copilot can block recurring focus time, accept or decline meetings automatically, and schedule meetings based on participant availability with AI-generated agendas.
That helps protect deep work time and makes meeting preparation faster and more consistent.
• Microsoft Graph & permissions
Copilot uses Microsoft Graph and your Outlook context to work with mail, calendar, files, and permissions-aware data it can access.
Feature access varies by Microsoft 365 plan, tenant settings, and preview programs like Frontier or Copilot Premium, so availability may differ across organizations.
