How to use Microsoft Loop First Look…

Microsoft is set to launch its Microsoft Loop app in public preview later this month. Loop has been in private preview since November and enables users to collaborate across Microsoft 365 apps. Based on Microsoft’s Fluid Framework, Loop has three key components: Loop components, Loop pages, and Loop workspaces. Loop components are live pieces of content, such as tables and checklists, that work across multiple apps and are updated in real-time.

A Loop page is a document that enables collaboration on one or more Loop components, while Loop workspaces help users organize related pages for large projects. Microsoft Loop supports collaboration between multiple users across pages and workspaces.

To prepare for the public preview, IT admins can enable the Loop app in their organization. Microsoft advises that IT pros can control the app with a Microsoft Cloud Policy and need to create a Security Group for all users before deploying the Loop setting to that group. Regulated organizations should note that Loop does not yet meet all of Microsoft’s compliance capabilities, such as eDiscovery and Sensitivity labeling.

Microsoft aims to position Loop as a competitor to productivity solutions like Notion. Loop and Notion both offer features to enhance content creation, project management, and note-taking. However, Loop has the edge as it is integrated into the Microsoft Office ecosystem.

Microsoft’s ongoing efforts to improve collaboration experiences aim to support businesses as they adjust to the new hybrid work era. Loop is one of Microsoft’s new solutions to help with this transition.
