Windows Central check out Microsoft's new AI chat search engine on Bing.com, in Microsoft Edge, and in the Bing Mobile app.

The age of generative AI is upon us, as evidenced by recent major announcements from Google and Microsoft regarding their respective products for the masses. While Google announced the unveiling of an "experimental conversational AI service" called Bard, Microsoft had a more extensive slate of news to share at its event in Redmond, Washington.

Through a partnership with ChatGPT maker OpenAI, Microsoft is adding more advanced AI conversation models to power updates to Bing and Edge.

During Microsoft's keynote presentation, the company moved at a breakneck pace, with demos occurring so quickly that it was difficult to keep up with the updates. However, a full demo with Dena Saunders from Bing Engineering provided a more comprehensible pace, although it was restricted to a set of scripted examples. To see the new features announced, including access to the preview version of Bing, one had to install the Developer channel version of Edge.

There are four new areas of change coming to Bing: Search, Answers, Chat, and Create. The first update is the new search box, which prompts users to ask Bing anything. This box is similar to those found on social media platforms such as Twitter or Facebook, and it has a character limit of 1,000. The idea behind this update is to make the process of searching for answers more conversational, similar to Google's approach in recent years.

In addition to the new search box, Bing will also offer updates to its Answers feature. These updates will provide more comprehensive and accurate information to users. Chat will be updated to include more advanced AI conversation models, thanks to Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI. Finally, Create will offer more capabilities for creating custom visuals and graphics for use on Bing.

Overall, it is clear that the age of generative AI is upon us, and companies like Google and Microsoft are investing heavily in this technology. As AI continues to advance, it will be interesting to see how it impacts our lives and how we interact with technology on a daily basis.
