In this, the first of a new video series to launch this channel, we look to learn Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory from the very beginning. If you want to learn how to become a diligent and effective Microsoft 365 Administrator, then this is the video series for you. You may be looking to gain new skills, to make a change in your career, or you may be about to leave school or college and you like the idea of working with Microsoft technologies.

This series will be dual purpose, in the fact that we will follow the study guide for the new Microsoft MS-102 certification exam (currently in beta). So you can learn M365 and study for a new certification all at the same time!

We start right at the very beginning in this video - by creating a Microsoft 365 tenant. You will learn how to select a free 1 month trial of your chosen Microsoft 365 subscription plan, and how to select your payment options.

When you have completed these steps, you will have a brand new Microsoft 365 tenant ready to be customised to your needs.

When creating a Microsoft 365 tenant, there are several important things to consider:

  1. Tenant Name: Choose a unique and easily identifiable name for your tenant, as this will be used in various settings and URLs.
  2. Subscription Plan: Choose the subscription plan that best fits your organization’s needs. There are several different plans available, each with different features and pricing.
  3. Users and Groups: Add and manage user accounts and groups within your tenant, assigning appropriate permissions and roles.
  4. Security and Compliance: Configure security settings and compliance policies to ensure data protection and regulatory compliance.
  5. Domains and DNS: Set up and configure your domain names and DNS settings to ensure proper access and functionality within the Microsoft 365 environment.
  6. Data Migration: Plan and execute the migration of any existing data or applications to the new Microsoft 365 environment, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  7. Training and Adoption: Provide adequate training and support to users to ensure they can effectively use the Microsoft 365 tools and maximize their benefits.

Overall, taking the time to carefully plan and configure your Microsoft 365 tenant can help ensure a smooth and successful transition to the cloud-based platform.
