More about this Topic

SharePoint Online is a cloud-based solution that allows users to securely store, organize, share and access information from any device. It also provides the ability to create subsites within its organizational structure. However, there may be times when you need to disable the creation of new subsites in SharePoint Online.

To do this, you will need to navigate to your site's permissions page in SharePoint Online. From here, select Edit Permissions under the Settings menu for the desired site collection or subweb where you want to restrict access. Next, click on Stop Inheriting Permissions from parent sites and then remove all users who have been granted Full Control rights (the default setting). Finally, save your changes by clicking OK at the bottom of the page and no one will be able to create a subsite without having explicit permission from an administrator or owner of that particular site collection or subweb.
