In this session I take a look at Microsoft’s new Authentication Strengths feature in Azure Active Directory. When combined with Conditional Access, this enhances security feature becomes a formidable tool in our defence arsenal. The ability to customise MFA policies and embed them into a conditional access policy is a game changer in defending your users from the bad guys.

Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) is a cloud-based identity and access management service provided by Microsoft. It enables organizations to manage user identities and access to resources across various cloud and on-premises applications. Azure AD offers several authentication methods, including passwords, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and security keys.

Some strengths of Azure AD authentication include:

  1. Security: Azure AD provides robust security features to protect user identities and sensitive data. For example, MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring users to provide additional verification after entering their passwords.
  2. Flexibility: Azure AD supports various authentication methods and can be integrated with many third-party identity providers. This allows organizations to choose the authentication methods that best suit their needs and integrate with existing systems.
  3. Management: Azure AD provides centralized management of user identities and access to resources. This simplifies the administration of user accounts and reduces the risk of unauthorized access to resources.

Overall, Azure AD authentication offers a secure and flexible solution for managing user identities and access to resources in the cloud.
