Unleash the power of Microsofts Power Platform for SAP Integration, transforming and automating business processes with ease.

Microsoft's latest acquisition, Clear Software, is causing a stir. This integration is set to unlock new features within a range of Microsoft's advanced business solutions - Power Apps, Power Automate, and Logic Apps. These functionalities are expected to drive the large-scale adoption and enhancement of Microsoft's robust business integration platform.

Since the acquisition in October 2021, aspects of Clear Software have been incorporated into different segments of the Microsoft Business Suite. The aim is to provide superior access to complex systems of records such as SAP and Oracle E-Business Suite. Today, I'm elated to announce the General Availability (GA) of a host of new abilities within our robust platform. For more information, click here.

The most exciting aspect is that we are now capable of offering a group of prebuilt applications designed for common SAP processes. This application, called "SAP Integration," will cause significant changes in standard business processes, making it much easier for organizations to realize value from their investments. Our customers will have the ability to effortlessly adjust these apps to meet the specific needs of their organizations.

The Microsoft business suite now includes Power Automate flows that will also come pre-built in the SAP Integration solution. These flows utilize released APIs from SAP, and they work across any organizational SAP environment. A few benefits of these preimplementations include reduced time to value, lower technical debt, and sustainability as the APIs have been supported for decades.

Additionally, we've developed advanced system connections. Customers voiced concerns about not being able to use some of the advanced connection parameters for user sessions, mainly message servers that support load balancing among thousands of users. We listened, and you can now use the connection parameters to support message servers, gateway servers, and more advanced SSO configurations.

As a part of this initiative, we're also introducing a new data gateway that works with the previous and the new SAP connector. This gateway adds advanced features to ensure smoother integration and interaction between Power Apps, Power Automate, SAP, and various SSO configurations.

With the introduction of several new functions, the expression language in Power Automate is now based on Logic apps functions. This allows more efficient processing of SAP data. In addition to this, a new link for SAP integration with the Microsoft Power Suite is made accessible for users here.

The Broader Perspective of Microsoft Power Suite with SAP

Microsoft's acquisition and integration of Clear Software into its Power Suite signal the company's continuous effort to enhance user experience and productivity. This change embraces the transformation towards more streamlined business processes, catering to increasing demands for efficient workflow management and automation. With SAP's API and Power Suite, organizations can expect more structured, scalable, and seamlessly integrated operations to remain competitive in the digital age.

Microsoft's acquisition of Clear Software has significantly improved the functionality for organizations utilizing SAP in several applications, opening a path for broad adoption of the Power Suite. This acquisition will facilitate software connectivity to systems like SAP and Oracle E-Business Suite, thus promoting wider business processes' digital transformation and automation.

One remarkable progress is the provision of prebuilt apps for the business processes involving Order to Cash and Procure to Pay. These include the Sales Order entry and Purchase Order entry that have been modified into one simple screen on the suite. The user feedback alluded to these changes as groundbreaking in providing more value from their investments.

Users can easily alter these templates to meet their organization's unique needs owing to the complete configurability of the application set. The plan for 2023 includes extending the integration solution to feature apps for 25 of the most common SAP business processes.

  • Order to Cash
  • Procure to Pay
  • Record to Report
  • Make to Stock/Make to Order (MRP)

Additionally, to support these application set, corresponding flows will also be prebuilt in the integration solution. These flows use released SAP's APIs and will function in any organization's SAP environment. Such a step is considered a win for several reasons: time to value, no technical debt, and sustainability.

The year 2023 will see an increase in the number of flows to support the areas of Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Record to Report, and Make to Stock/Make to Order (MRP).

Furthermore, Microsoft has considered the recurrent user feedback and equipped users with the ability to use more advanced connection parameters for user sessions. Examples include supporting load balancing among thousands of users. Users can now connect to gateway servers, message servers, and set up more advanced SSO configurations.

Through the New On-Premises Data Gateway, Microsoft offers a solution to two essential requirements: Backwards compatibility for existing customers who are still running the prior version of the SAP connector, and a seamless experience for SSO with the suite. This was in response to user feedback that setting up and running SSO with SAP was very challenging.

The improved SAP connector and action in the suite implements numerous enhancements like easing the selection of an SAP API, easier API work after schema retrieval, hiding SSO and data gateway parameters inside the advanced system connection, thus reducing the number of data elements required in the action. These modifications plan to further simplify the user experience after working with SAP APIs.

New functions have also been added to the expression language in Power Automate to allow for more efficient processing of SAP data, and tools have been provided for formatting SAP Material ID with the leading zeroes that SAP’s APIs expect.
