Ever wondered how encryption really works?

Encryption is the process of taking plain text, like a text message or email, and scrambling it into an unreadable format — called “ciphertext”. This helps protect the confidentiality of digital data either stored on computer systems or transmitted through a network like the internet.

The encryption process uses an algorithm along with a key to perform the encryption and decryption processes. A key is used to encrypt and decrypt data so that only those who possess it can read the content. Keys are typically generated using algorithms such as RSA or AES (Advanced Encryption Standard). Once encrypted, even if someone was able to intercept your data they would not be able to read it without first having access to your unique key.
