Microsoft expert advice on Dynamics 365 Bites Power Pages feature managing site visibility, enhancing security by controlling external access.

Dynamics 365 Bites has introduced Power Pages, a new feature that enhances the security of your site by controlling the site's visibility. This means that the site is protected from external access whenever it's provisioned. Further details can be accessed at Microsoft's Learning Page.

Power Pages, a part of the Power Platform, has introduced a site visibility feature that helps manage who can access a specific website. All new websites created in Power Pages are private by default and can be switched to public when ready for launch.

Private sites are visible only to site creators and other organizational users who are given access, and users need to authenticate using the organization's Azure Active Directory. This feature is useful during the site development stage.

On the other hand, public sites are accessible to everyone, with or without authentication, making it a production site ready for customer use.

The site visibility feature is available for websites with version 9.4.9.x or later. Site creators are advised to be cautious when editing a public site as changes are immediately visible to external users.

The visibility of a site can be easily toggled between private and public. Access to a private site can be granted to up to 50 organization users via the site visibility page.

Only specific Azure Active Directory roles, like Global Administrator, Power Platform Administrator, and Dynamics 365 Administrator, are allowed to change the site visibility. System Administrators can also change site visibility depending on certain tenant-level settings.

However, from October 1, 2023, System Administrators won't be able to change site visibility if the tenant-level setting is null. The tenant-level setting can be modified using a PowerShell script.

You can delegate site visibility control to specific users by adding them to a security group in Azure Active Directory. This functionality is especially useful when all System Administrators are not allowed to change site visibility.

Known issues include private Power Pages sites not working when Azure Active Directory authentication is disabled. It's recommended to switch the site visibility to public before disabling Azure Active Directory authentication.

Deep Dive into PowerPages Visibility and Security

PowerPages as part of the Dynamics 365 suite offers robust and secure solutions for site visibility. The new feature provides administrators with the power to restrict external access whilst the site is on provision. This shields the site from unauthorized users and potential threats, thus, boosting its security.

Furthermore, this feature enables restriction of #anonymous users which presents an additional security layer to the PowerPages websites. Through these enhancements, Dynamics 365 continues to render safe and secure environments for all its users.
