Microsoft has recently announced a developer plan for Power Virtual Agents that provides access to Public Preview of its innovative authoring canvas. Upon listening to community feedback, Microsoft offers the opportunity to test new features like PowerFX, advanced topic management, variable management, and more, through a combination of Microsoft’s 365 Developer Plan, Power Apps Developer Plan and Power Virtual Agents trial.

Access to these features is easy and involves four simple steps. Firstly, users need a personal account which they will use to sign up for the Microsoft Developer Account. If one does not exist, users can create an account via Outlook.

Once the user has a personal account, it can be used to sign up for the Microsoft 365 Developer Program. By signing up for this developer account, new credentials will be issued ending in ‘onmicrosoft.com’. This should not be mistaken for the user’s company login - these credentials are entirely separate and will be used in subsequent steps.

The next step involves the Power Apps Developer Plan and this is attached to the Microsoft 365 Developer Account. The Power Apps Developer Plan is particularly user-friendly towards developers as it provides access to Power Automate’s 900+ data sources. This includes premium connectors like Azure, Dynamics 365, and custom APIs. Additionally, it also includes Dataverse, a fully managed, scalable, Azure-backed data platform. "Further information can be found [here](https://www.hubsite365.com/en-ww/pro-office-365/?id=08caf636-2e48-45eb-848b-a987f6a4c98a&topic=8904d497-c2da-ec11-bb3d-000d3a4860eb&theater=true) for further insights into developer tools like Power Apps."

The final step includes creating with Power Virtual Agents. After setting up the Power Apps development environment, users should go to the Power Virtual Agents trial page, log in with their newly created credentials, and complete the signing up process. The Power Apps Developer Plan also includes Microsoft Dataverse enabling users to use Power Automate and Dataverse to connect to Power Virtual Agents and expand the potentials within your bots.

Upon finalizing this setup, users can begin creating their first bot. Microsoft encourages users to share their creations, ensuring to keep sensitive data out of screenshots and videos that are shared. All in all, this developer plan offers comprehensive toolkits making bot building a fun and interactive journey.
