SharePoint: AI File Summaries You Need

Key insights

• SHAREPOINT.MD: Place a markdown file named SHAREPOINT.MD in the root of your Agent Assets library and SharePoint Copilot loads it automatically whenever a chat opens.
Structure that file with site purpose, library maps, naming conventions, and AI rules — write it for AI context, not human readers.

• Agentic AI: SharePoint now includes agentic AI that executes multi-step tasks from natural-language prompts.
It builds solutions, updates data, and automates workflows without manual coding.

• SharePoint Copilot: Use Copilot to summarize, compare, or create audio overviews of files, autofill library columns, set rules, and import lists from Excel.
It converts unstructured files into structured data and performs common file and library actions directly in the UI.

• AI-Ready Content: The platform can auto-tag metadata, repair broken links, and flag outdated pages to keep libraries current.
Structured Documents also let AI detect fields in Word templates, generate forms, and produce compliant outputs.

• SharePoint Admin Agent: Admins get proactive governance features (permissions, site lifecycle, storage trends) with Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses.
Rollout and site controls remain in admin hands and can be managed via PowerShell commands.

• No-code automation: Teams can build repositories, helpdesks, and reports faster using conversational prompts instead of code.
This boosts productivity, personalizes discovery, and preserves enterprise security and compliance.
