Enhance your Microsoft Teams meetings with new Breakout Rooms participant shuffle feature, available in Public Preview now!

A Preview of A Novel Function: Participant Shuffling Within Breakout Rooms Now Available

According to Microsoft's blog post, Microsoft has unveiled a significant addition to its interactive platform. A functionality named "participant shuffling" is now available in breakout rooms. The function randomly assigns participants to different rooms, extending both before and during live meetings, enhancing meeting dynamics and creating an atmosphere of randomness.

More than just assigning participants, the update allows for 'shuffling' of all attendees or the yet-to-be-assigned ones. This feature enables an even redistribution of participants among existing rooms, ensuring that all rooms have equal opportunities for interaction and discussion.

This innovative feature is currently open to everyone via the Public Preview channel as Microsoft continues to evolve its platform, allowing users to efficiently manage and organize their virtual spaces.

Meeting hosts and co-organizers are now able to leverage new capabilities when dividing participants into breakout rooms. This capability brings a new level of efficiency to meeting setup by giving administrators the ability to quickly and effortlessly distribute participants.

A new 'Shuffle' button can be accessed from the 'Assign participants' window, adding a new dimension to the meeting experience. Be it prior to the meeting or during the meeting, attendees can find this feature under the Breakout Rooms panel.

For more information on the use of this platform visit here.

The feature also emphasizes that users need to be in the Public Preview to use this function. However, this requirement doesn’t extend to other meeting participants.

The blog post iterates that for this feature to be enabled, IT administrators have to activate the 'Show preview features' option, and then users individually choose to join the public preview.

If users have any feedback regarding features in the public preview or other areas of Teams, they are encouraged to share straight from Teams via 'Help' > 'Give feedback' option. With a focus on quality and customer obsession, Microsoft continues to prioritize customer feedback to improve and refine the Teams experience.

The Future of Remote Collaboration: Breakout Rooms and Participant Shuffling

Breakout rooms and participant shuffling are already revolutionizing online collaboration by creating efficient, dynamic virtual spaces. As the world continues to navigate remote work and online meetings, innovative features like these are a step forward in enhancing productivity and interaction. As Microsoft continues to introduce more functionalities, the future of remote collaboration seems boundless with promises of efficiency, inclusivity, and ease of use.

Learn about New Feature Preview: Participant Shuffling in Breakout Rooms Now Available

A new participant shuffle feature has been recently introduced, enabling efficient and random redistribution of participants in existing breakout rooms, enhancing the overall functionality of our meeting platform. The shuffling can be applied both prior to or during an ongoing meeting, and it can be adjusted to shuffle all or only unassigned participants.

This feature is currently accessible to everyone via the Public Preview channel. Meeting organizers, co-organizers, or Breakout room managers can leverage this unique feature during both the meeting arrangement and actual meeting stages.

The process to utilize this functionality involves accessing the "Assign participants to breakout rooms" window and clicking on the newly introduced Shuffle button. This window can be brought up by clicking on the "Assign participants" button in the Breakout rooms tab of a meeting invitation or the meeting toolbar during a meeting.

To equip your use of our platform with this feature, it's essential that the user is part of Public Preview; however, this doesn't apply to other meeting participants. Further instructions regarding the enabling of the public preview for your convenience are provided later in the text.

Regarding supported platforms for this feature, our list includes but is not limited to Windows, macOS, various browsers like Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge. Unfortunately, as of now, we do not have iOS and Android support, but our team is working towards it.

For enabling the public preview, necessary steps should be taken by IT admins for the activation of "Show preview features" in the update policy. This is followed by individual users opting to join the public preview. More details on this can be found in "Public preview in our platform" documentation (hyperlink).

As always, we appreciate and welcome feedback regarding the features in the public preview or any other functionalities. This feedback allows us to continually improve our services to better meet your needs. The feedback can be provided directly through the Help section found at the bottom left of your client panel.

In sum, this new feature helps streamline the process of participant shuffling, whether for rearranging participants for breakout rooms or reassigning unassigned participants, ensuring smooth and organized collab sessions. Thank you for your time and attention to this update, and we look forward to delivering more developments designed to enhance your collab sessions.
