Google has launched its AirDrop competitor, Nearby Share, for Windows as a beta app. The app allows Android users to share files, links, documents, and photos between Android devices and Windows PCs. The app supports Windows 10 and above, but not ARM-powered Windows laptops. Users can set up the app to allow sharing with everyone, their contacts, or limit it to their own devices. The Nearby Share Beta works with Windows PCs, whether the app is open on the desktop or running in the background. Google plans to expand official support to share content with other Google ecosystem devices based on user feedback.

Nearby Share is a feature available in Windows 10 and later versions that allows users to share files and content with nearby devices using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct. With Nearby Share, you can quickly and easily share files such as photos, videos, documents, and web pages with devices that are within range without the need for a network connection.

To use Nearby Share, both devices need to have the feature enabled and be within Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct range of each other. When sharing a file, you can choose to share it with all nearby devices or with specific contacts.

Nearby Share is a convenient way to quickly share files with friends, family, or colleagues without the need for cables or other hardware. It’s also a secure way to share files, as it uses Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct to establish a direct connection between devices, and the files are sent encrypted.
