The blog from Microsoft has made an important announcement regarding the future of the Power Apps Ideas forum. This digital space, well-known for propagating innovative suggestions, will be shifting to a more dynamic platform between November 15 and November 29, 2022. The aim of this transition is to improve accessibility and responsiveness, and to further integrate user-generated content into the product development cycle.
The new interface promises to provide a more streamlined experience to the users. Another noteworthy change is the introduction of a new voting management process. All ideas will be reviewed monthly, any recurring ideas grouped together, and the user clarified whenever required. Notably substantial ideas that receive upwards of 100 votes will then be filtered to the Power Apps product team for inspection, potentially integrating them into the product line.
Status changes for ideas will be handled distinctly. Newly submitted proposals are labeled ‘New’, while those garnering a minimum of 100 votes and are under review would be declared ‘In Review’. The concepts that the team agrees to actualize become ‘Planned’, and those already implemented are ‘Completed’. However, ideas turned down by the team would, quite straightforwardly, be assigned the status ‘Declined’.
To bridge this major shift, the platform will enter a "read-only" mode starting November 15. The users will be temporarily restricted to post any new ideas while the migration takes place. The platform is set to launch on November 29, and all information from the previous site will be available thereafter.
Microsoft appreciates the active participation from the community, eagerly anticipating the innovative ideas that this platform transition would kindle.
Apart from the basics covered above, shifting to a dynamic portal opens avenues for more engaging user interactions. Newer platforms often provide more agile responses to user feedback, thereby rapidly integrating it into product enhancements. Such transitions also often bring a refreshed user interface, which can improve the overall user experience. Coupling this with a better idea management system, businesses can ensure users' novel insights are not missed, potentially leading towards a mutually beneficial technological progression.
