Creating Custom Pages with Power Apps

In the ever-evolving realm of the Power Platform, the option of creating Custom Pages within Model-Driven Apps is a welcome addition. Let's take a look at how these Custom Pages are built.

You start from your Power Apps interface, making sure you're in the appropriate working environment. From the new menu, you tap the option to create an App, which then presents you with the option to make a Page, separate from a Canvas App.

Selecting Page takes you to the Canvas App Studio, where features of a Canvas App can be incorporated into your new Page. From here, you'll design the Page according to the function you want it to serve.

Once satisfied with your Page set up, save and publish the App. You'll be required to provide a name for your App (or Page) at this point. Ensure you save and publish it again after assigning a name, much like the process involved with a Canvas App.

The Page should now appear in your Solution, signifying that you have successfully created a Page. The next step is to add this to your Model-Driven App.

Within the same Solution, you can include a Model-Driven App, which will be configured to embody this new Page. As you launch the App, look for the 'Add Page' button, prompting a Dialog about the type of Page to add. Your selection should be Custom Page.

You then get to pick between creating a New Page or adding an existing one. This is where you'll opt for the Custom Page you've just fashioned, for instance, the 'Account Review Page'.

To display your Custom Page in the Site Map, you should tick the 'Show in navigation'. With the Page added, you can now observe your Custom Page integrated into the Model-Driven App, after selecting 'Publish'.

Once completed, your customized Page is ready to be used with your Model-Driven App. Excitingly, this newly available feature opens up a host of fresh possibilities within the Power Apps ecosystem, making your tasks easier and more efficient.

In this blog post, we will explore the process of constructing Custom Pages within Microsoft's Power Platform and integrating these into Model-Driven Applications. Also commonly referred to as 'Power Apps', this Microsoft creation enables the construction of custom pages in an intuitive and user-friendly environment. In addition, we'll be delving into the techniques at simpler level, taking things one by one.

Firstly, make certain you are logged in and are operating in the intended medium. It is crucial for future steps to be inside a Solution. From there, you can select the + New dropdown menu, where you'll find the option to create a new Page, an alternative to creating a Canvas App. Click on it.

Upon selecting 'Page', you'll enter the Canvas App Studio platform - a feature bursting with a capability to be incorporated into your custom Page. Once you've designed a Page with the desired purpose and functionality, save and publish your app. You'll be prompted to provide a title for the App (or rather, the Page). Choose a fitting title and proceed to save.

Once saved, publish again. Confirm your publish, much like you would do while interacting with a Canvas App. After this action, you can return to the Solution and inspect the appearance of your new Page. This process culminates in the creation of a Page in the Power Platform. Now comes the intriguing part. Here, we'll cover the steps on how to incorporate this newly created entity into your Model-Driven App.

In the same Solution, a Model-Driven App can be added for configuration with the new Page. Venturing into the App section of the Solution you're working in, you'll find an option to add an already existing Model-Driven App. From the array of apps, select the Custom Page to be added to the Model-Driven App. Your choice could range from the Sales Hub App to any other of your preference.

After addition, open the App. Upon opening, you'll spot the + Add Page button on which you'll need to click. A follow-up dialog asks which type of Page should be inducted. Custom Page should be your option here. The succeeding step permits you to opt between creating a New Page or adding an existing Custom Page. Here, we'll preferentially add the existing Custom Page, the one we just created.

For the new Page to be displayed in the Site Map, ensure 'Show in navigation' is checked. By adding the Page, you will see how it integrates into the Model-Driven App. If satisfied with the changes, publish these on the Model-Driven App. Completion of these actions results in the successful addition of the Custom Page to the Model-Driven App.

Thus, the entire procedure of creating Custom Pages in the Power Platform and adding them to Model-Driven Apps has been covered.
