Enjoy enhanced understanding of desktop flows with the new preview feature in Power Automates Monitor section.

We're excited to share a sneak peek of a new desktop activity area (currently in preview) within the Power Automate monitor. It serves as a resource for RPA users offering dashboards, tables, and graphs to better gauge desktop workflows, enhance efficiency, and rapidly resolve issues.

This new feature is attainable for all users, according to the privileges they have on flow and machines, not just the administrators Only! The idea is to empower the users by giving them control and visibility on their workflows. For more information, feel free to visit here.

Identifying Main Errors

This feature includes an error pivot to help clients quickly identify common errors that may arise during flow execution. The pivot aims to share information about desktop flows, cloud flows, and machines affected by these errors to help users instantly understand and fix issues.

What Next?

In the coming weeks, we expect to introduce new pivots for desktop flow. These planned improvements include:

  • Last Runs pivot: Offering meaningful data about your desktop flow executions (run counts, error rates, run modes, trends, etc.). This tool will enable centres of excellence (CoEs) to oversee all automations in an aggregated view.
  • Real-time pivot: Providing a live overview of currently operating flows and those queued for deployment.
  • Machines pivot: Offering a holistic perspective of your machine assets, helping to determine utilization, identify high-failure machines, and machines requiring updates.

Feedback is always appreciated and encouraged and gladly be accepted at the Power Automate Community.

Exciting new strides have been taken in the latest preview of the fresh desktop flow activity slice (in the examination phase) in the Monitor area on Power Automate. A broader audience of users will be elated to use this sleek update, which combines dashboards, charts, and tables into one mini, yet robust, working space.

Notably, this new feature measures effectiveness by detecting problems promptly. It's available to all authorized users, which extends its reach beyond just the administrators, to include those with permissions on flows and devices.

  • Understanding Common Errors

We're launching this version with an Errors Pivot, a unique feature to accelerate the detection of common errors during flow execution.

Moreover, it promises to give users information about desktop and cloud-based automations while identifying the machines affected by these problems. This function ultimately empowers users to navigate easily and quickly towards a solution.

  • Anticipated Additions

In the subsequent weeks, we plan to add fresh pivots to this desktop flow activity:

  • Last Runs Pivot: This segment will provide bar graphs and tables to comprehensively understand your automation runs in terms of number, percentage of errors, run modes, trends, etc. It's going to be a particularly useful tool for CoEs as they monitor their utilities from a single, aggregated view.
  • Real-Time Pivot: Offering live views, this feature will show the workflows currently in action and those awaiting execution.
  • Machines Pivot: This will provide an overall perspective on your machines park. It will help in recognizing utilization patterns, frequency of errors encountered by machines, and even those machines that will need updates soon.

We hope these additions will enhance user interaction with the software. Feel free to share your feedback and queries in the community. For those eager to know more about the functionality of Power Automate Desktop, the resources listed below are a good starting point:
