Uncover the secrets of setting up the perfect audio for Teams Conference with this comprehensive guide from a Microsoft expert.

Setting Up an Ideal Audio Environment in Microsoft Teams

This summary is based on a comprehensive guide by Chris Hoard on setting up perfect audio conferencing using Microsoft Teams. The process requires Teams Service Administrator or Global Administrator Permissions and Teams Licence within Microsoft 365 Licence for testing.

The blog explores the usefulness of audio conferencing and highlights the need to provide users with a cleaner and more accessible meeting invite setup. This includes having local numbers readily available and personalising them to align with the user's business dealings.

The first step involves confirming the user's location in the Microsoft 365 admin center. For instance, we can take a reference user, Diego, located in Italy, to illustrate the use of audio conferencing policies within an organization.

Steps to Follow

  • Check and verify the user's location in Microsoft 365, which should typically inform you what their default Audio Conference Toll number should be.
  • Log into Microsoft 365 using admin credentials, select the user location and save changes.
  • Once the location is confirmed, ensure the user has the right default conference number for Italy and not the UK (tenant location). On the Teams Admin Centre, you can make necessary changes.
  • Upon updating the location, users can order dedicated AC Toll numbers for different business locations. These dedicated numbers are added to the bridge for use in our audio conferencing policy. Use the Teams Admin Center to add the numbers.
  • Upon having all the numbers, one can now start configuring the audio conferencing policy. A custom policy for Diego is created including toll numbers for his regular business locations.
  • The user can now book a meeting and see the updated AC numbers on the invite. This update may take a few hours to reflect.
