SharePoint Roadmap Pitstop: July 2023

In July 2023, SharePoint and Microsoft 365 introduced many new features like new SharePoint site creation experience, Viva Pulse GA, Viva Connections platform updates, new Search layouts for results, and Simplified sharing in OneDrive. Other updates included Lists UX update, Stream playback in Teams chat and channels, Azure AD > Microsoft Security Identifier (MSeID), highlights of Inspire announcements among others.

 

 

In a podcast episode, Chris McNulty, Director of Product Marketing (Syntex – Microsoft), announced the Microsoft 365 Backup and Archive at the Microsoft Inspire 2023 event. These features started rolling out to Targeted Release customers in Microsoft 365 as of July 2023.

SharePoint in Microsoft 365 helps build an intelligent intranet that offers benefits like reducing IT and development costs, increasing business speed and agility, and enhancing the dynamic, personalised nature of your intranet.

With the new SharePoint site creation experience, users can choose a site template based on their needs. It offers a visual preview, a list of site capabilities, and a list of pages and other features that come with each template to provide clarity to future site owners.

Stream playback in Teams chat and channels, AAD > MSeID, and Inspire announcements highlights are some of the other features that are available in Microsoft 365. Lastly, Chris McNulty also presented a bonus love song about OneDrive, titled "King of the Cloud" during the podcast episode.
