In 2019, we launched the Center of Excellence (CoE) Starter Kit – a set of templates that are designed to help you get started with developing a strategy for ad

The Center of Excellence (CoE) Starter Kit was launched in 2019 to help organizations develop a strategy for adopting, maintaining, and supporting Microsoft Power Platform, with a focus on Power Apps and Power Automate. The CoE Starter Kit gathers information about an organization’s Power Platform usage and helps manage, govern, and nurture Power Platform adoption. Until now, the mechanism to gather this information was based on cloud flows that used Power Platform admin connectors to crawl the tenant and store inventory and usage data in Dataverse tables.

Recently, an enhancement to export an organization’s inventory and usage data from the Power Platform Admin Center was introduced.

This enhancement provides a more optimized option to implement the processes needed for the CoE Starter Kit. Therefore, the CoE Starter Kit’s architecture has been evolved to take advantage of these product enhancements, allowing the experimental preview of the CoE Starter Kit using data provided by the Data Export feature as a foundation for inventory and telemetry.

With this experimental preview, organizations can export Power Platform inventory and usage data directly into Azure Data Lake Storage using the Data Export feature in the Power Platform Admin Center. This mechanism is very efficient since the data is provided by the admin center. Once the Data Export feature is set up, the CoE Starter Kit can be configured to use the data provided by this feature to power the kit’s dashboards, apps, and flows.
