Exploring Microsoft Loop's New Commenting Feature

Microsoft Loop has introduced a significant update that enhances user collaboration by integrating comments into Loop tables and boards. Through these interactive elements, Loop ensures that users can provide context-rich feedback and engage comprehensively with content in an asynchronous manner.

The practicality of this feature is evident as it allows users to manipulate comments directly within the cell or field of interest, thereby making discussions more relevant and focused. Additionally, while users have full control over their contributions, restrictions are in place on modifying comments made by others, which helps maintain accountability and respect for original content. Such enhancements not only facilitate smoother workflow within teams but also bolster the overall functionality and usability of Microsoft 365 tools.

Overall, Microsoft Loop's enhanced features are designed to support dynamic and efficient workplace communication, aligning with modern demands for flexibility and contextuality in digital interactions.

Comments are valuable communication tools that you can use to ask questions, add contextual feedback, discuss and address issues, and enable rich collaboration. By adding comments to cells in Loop tables and fields in Loop boards, you can better share your ideas in context and communicate efficiently asynchronously.

To begin, go to Microsoft Loop. Select a table-based component in an existing Loop page or create a new one. To add a new comment, right-click the cell to which you want to add a comment, then select "New comment" in the menu.

  • Enter the comment text, click the "Post comment" button, and notice that a comment icon appears in the top right corner of the selected table cell.
  • To respond to a comment, click an existing comment icon, add your reply text, and then click the arrow icon in the lower right area to submit.
  • To edit or delete an existing comment you posted, click the comment icon, click the ellipses menu, and then select either "Edit" and make the necessary changes, or select "Delete".

NOTE: Comments can be added, edited, and deleted in the detail view of both tables and boards following the steps above. Here are a few scenarios you might try:

  • Add a comment to a cell in a table or board.
  • Add a reply to an existing comment.
