Data Refresh Model-Driven App Main Grid/Forms from a Custom Page
In this short blog post, I will share with you how you can refresh the Model-Driven apps forms and/or Main Grids/SubGrids from a Custom Page (Canvas app)
The Data Refresh Model-Driven App Main Grid/Forms from a Custom Page feature allows users to build custom pages with data grids and forms that can be automatically refreshed on a regular schedule. This functionality is useful for keeping track of large amounts of data, or displaying the latest information in an easy-to-read format.
With this feature, users can configure their own refresh schedules and intervals, allowing them to automate their workflow and keep up with changes quickly. Additionally, they can create customized views to filter out irrelevant information or focus on specific areas of interest.
INTRODUCTION
In this short blog post, I will share with you how you can refresh the Model-Driven apps forms and/or Main Grids/SubGrids from a Custom Page (Canvas app). If you are using custom pages and you are integrating the underlining Model-Driven app controls, such as the Forms or Grids, you probably need to refresh the data on those controls after you close the custom page. If you ever had such requirement, you are in the right place. I decided to create this post to inclued both methods of refreashing the data as they are different based on the controls: Forms or Grids.
CUSTOM PAGE
I have one custom page and it has multiple controls but what is relevant to our post is the Button that we click to update a field value in the Model-Driven app Form and Main Grid. This Button will update our shipping status field value from “Unshipped” to “Shipped”. Once it clicked, it will also close the Custom Page Gialuge Panel. Note, that we are passing data from the Model-Driven App page as a parameter to ribbon actions .
